Feeling good is not only about how you look on the outside but how you feel on the inside. By taking some of the steps listed below you will be taken out of your 'comfort' zone, which will lead to enhancing your self esteem and confidence, plus giving you a zest for life. ![]()
Take regular exercise: activities such as brisk walking and jogging both have stress reducing effects on the brain and body which will make you feel relaxed. So why not try a 10 minute walk and afterwards note down afterwards the affect it has on you. It is widely known that a milky drink helps relax the brain at the end of a stressful day. Sugars in the milk assist the brain in absorbing more tryptophan from the bloodstream which is also provided in the milk. The brain then converts tryptophan into sleep inducing serotonin. Low on energy? Can't shake off the lethargy? - then have pasta. Pasta and other complex carbohydrates assist in boosting energy levels, yet they also have a calming influence on the brain because they increase levels of serotonin
Eating turkey has its benefits. Why???? It is because it is rich in tryptophan, which the body requires to make the brain chemical serotonin (the feel good hormone). So why wait until XMAS! Not all things in life are to be taken seriously, so lighten up and alter your mindset by thinking positively. By thinking outside the box and being optimistic even when you feel overwhelmed, or down, you are opening your mind to the possibilities of hope and with hope brings about positive changes.
Trust the strength inside you to carry you through your problems even when doubt and fears arise in your mind trying to suppress anything positive or good. Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones by believing in yourself. You may not see the woods from the trees now, but believe that your situation somehow is going to improve for the better!!!!!. People treat you the way you allow them to treat you. Set standards for the way that you wish to be treated and remember that it is important to love yourself. It will enable you to become self-reliant and feel self assured of your own strengths and abilities. Therefore if you have a dream - take steps to achieve it. After all, you're worth it! When low in mood, you may feel like keeping to yourself. Thoughts go around in your head telling you that if you reach out to others, you may be seen as: boring, not worth knowing, and self absorbed. The more you distance yourself from others by listening to the negative thoughts in your head, the lower you will feel. However hard it is, override your thoughts and take the courage to call a friend if only for a few minutes or visit a family member. Having someone to talk to will make you feel better. By reaching out to others, people will naturally find you interesting and this will in turn increase your confidence and self-esteem.
